Monsoon 2026 India में आ गया है — लेकिन इस बार मौसम विभाग की warning है कि rainfall below normal रहेगा। IMD (India Meteorological Department) के मुताबिक इस season में देश भर में Long Period Average का केवल 90% rainfall होने की संभावना है। El Niño का साया इस साल के monsoon पर भारी पड़ रहा है।
Southwest Monsoon Kerala में June 4, 2026 को पहुंचा — यानी normal date June 1 से तीन दिन late। IMD ने पहले May 26 को arrival forecast किया था, लेकिन वह भी miss हो गई। June 23 तक monsoon Maharashtra (Mumbai सहित), Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand और Bihar के कई हिस्सों में advance हो गया।
सबसे चिंताजनक बात यह है कि अब तक monsoon rains average से 43 percent below हैं। इसका सीधा असर India की agricultural crops पर पड़ने का अनुमान है। Kharif season में अगर rain deficit रहा तो paddy, pulses और oilseeds की production hit हो सकती है।
Al Jazeera की report के मुताबिक India ने weak monsoon season को देखते हुए contingency plans तैयार किए हैं। Government reservoirs की monitoring कर रही है और drought-prone districts में special attention दी जा रही है। IMD ने 60% chance of a deficient season बताया है।
हालांकि Northwest और Northeast India के कुछ हिस्सों और South Peninsula के कई parts में normal या above-normal rainfall का forecast है। लेकिन जहां rain कम रहेगा — खासकर Central और Western India — वहां water crisis की आशंका है।
Farmers के लिए यह situation बेहद critical है। पहले से ही Iran War की वजह से LPG और fuel महंगे हैं, fertilizer की supply hit हुई है, और अब कमज़ोर monsoon ने tension और बढ़ा दी है। सरकार farmers को advisory जारी कर रही है कि वे water-efficient crops की तरफ shift करें।
