India के AI startup ecosystem के लिए June 2026 एक landmark month साबित हुआ। Sarvam AI ने June 15, 2026 को $234 million की Series B funding raise की और $1.5 billion valuation के साथ India का 130वां unicorn बन गया। यह India का पहला dedicated full-stack AI startup unicorn है।
इस funding round की lead HCL Tech ने की, जिसने $150 million का strategic investment किया। अन्य participants में Bessemer Venture Partners (new investor), Peak XV Partners और Khosla Ventures (returning investors) शामिल हैं। यह deal India की sovereign AI ambitions के लिए एक major milestone है।
Sarvam AI को August 2023 में IITians और international PhD scholars ने found किया था — Dr. Vivek Raghavan (Carnegie Mellon) और Dr. Pratyush Kumar (ETH Zurich)। Company का focus India की sovereign AI stack बनाना है — यानी foreign AI platforms पर dependence कम करना।
Sarvam की technology India की 22 official languages को support करती है जो इसे truly inclusive AI platform बनाती है। Company के AI models को government agencies, banks और healthcare providers use कर रहे हैं।
