February 2026 में एक ऐतिहासिक announcement हुई — US ने India पर लागू reciprocal tariff को 25% से घटाकर 18% कर दिया। यह तब हुआ जब India ने Russia से oil खरीद बंद करने का commitment दिया।
यह deal India-US relations में एक major milestone है। Modi-Trump की मुलाकात के बाद दोनों देशों के बीच “Historic Trade Deal” का announcement हुआ था।
India की obligations: सभी US industrial goods और कई agricultural products पर tariffs कम या खत्म करना। Soybean oil, tree nuts, wine, spirits, fresh fruits जैसे products पर duties घटाना।
India का बड़ा commitment: अगले 5 साल में $500 billion के US products खरीदना — energy, aircraft, technology, precious metals और coking coal शामिल।
July 24 deadline से पहले final arrangement lock होना ज़रूरी है। इसके बाद US के higher MFN tariffs फिर से लागू हो सकते हैं। दोनों देशों के negotiators race against time में हैं।
