India की tax collection machinery ने May 2026 में भी strong performance दिखाई। Gross GST (Goods and Services Tax) collection May 2026 में ₹1.94 लाख करोड़ रहा, जो year-on-year 3.2% की growth है। यह figure India के robust economic activity को दर्शाता है और government के fiscal health के लिए positive signal है।
Break-down देखें तो imports से gross GST revenue 19.1% की जोरदार growth के साथ ₹59,654 करोड़ रहा। Import में यह surge India के manufacturing boom और infrastructure push का indication है। Domestic revenue में 2.6% की मामूली कमी ज़रूर रही जो ₹1.35 लाख करोड़ पर रहा।
April 2026 में GST collection ₹2.43 लाख करोड़ था जो all-time high के करीब था। यह दिखाता है कि India की tax base expand हो रही है और compliance बढ़ रही है। GST system के implementation के बाद से India की indirect tax collection significantly improve हुई है।
Higher GST collection का सीधा फायदा government spending पर पड़ता है। Infrastructure projects जैसे highways, railways और ports के लिए ज़्यादा funds available होते हैं। States को भी GST compensation और devolution के ज़रिए ज़्यादा resources मिलते हैं।
GST compliance में improvement के पीछे technology का बड़ा role है। GSTN (GST Network) portal के upgrades, e-invoicing mandate और AI-based audit tools ने tax evasion कम किया है। Business community में GST को लेकर अब ज़्यादा clarity और acceptance है।
June 2026 के figures July में announce होंगे। Economists का अनुमान है कि June collection भी ₹1.80-1.95 लाख करोड़ के range में रहेगा। FY2026-27 के लिए government का GST target ₹22 लाख करोड़ है जो currently track पर है। Strong GST collection India की GDP growth narrative को support करता है।
