2026 India के AI startup ecosystem के लिए एक watershed year बन रहा है। February 2026 में India AI Impact Summit — Global South में hosted पहला global AI summit — में $200 billion से ज़्यादा के investment commitments आए। यह moment India को AI development में एक serious player के रूप में establish करता है।
Government ने Sarvam AI, SoketAI, Gan AI और Gnani AI को foundational model development के लिए government compute support दिया है। यह India की “sovereign AI” strategy का हिस्सा है — ताकि India सिर्फ AI का consumer न रहे बल्कि creator भी बने। Global equity firm Bernstein ने recently warning दी थी कि अगर India ने अपना AI model नहीं बनाया तो “permanent consumer” बनने का risk है।
Numbers देखें तो India में अभी 1,780 से ज़्यादा AI companies हैं जिनमें से 482 funded हैं, collectively $3.4 billion की VC और PE funding के साथ। 2024 में 363 नए AI startups founded हुए — पिछले 10 साल में किसी एक साल में सबसे ज़्यादा। AI-integrated startups की valuations 2-3x ज़्यादा हैं compared to non-AI peers।
Voice AI एक interesting emerging space है। Wispr Flow ने recently कहा कि India उनका fastest-growing market है। Hindi और regional languages में AI tools की demand तेज़ी से बढ़ रही है। India की linguistic diversity एक challenge भी है और opportunity भी — जो startup इसे solve करेगा वह billion-dollar company बनेगा।
हालाँकि challenges भी हैं। Overall startup funding में 17.88% की drop है 2026 में। Large-cap deals scarce हैं। Talent war intense है। लेकिन जो companies AI को core में रखकर build कर रही हैं, उनके लिए investors queue में खड़े हैं। Startup India FoF 2.0 के ₹10,000 crore और government compute support के साथ — India का AI decade शुरू हो चुका है!
