India ने एक ऐतिहासिक industrial milestone achieve किया है — देश का पहला commercial-scale coal-to-ammonium nitrate facility Odisha के Jharsuguda district के Lakhanpur में लगेगा। PM Modi ने June 20, 2026 को इस ₹25,000 crore के project का foundation stone रखा। यह India की energy और industrial policy में एक game-changing moment है।
Coal Gasification क्या है? यह process coal को high temperature और pressure पर gas में convert करती है — जिसे फिर ammonium nitrate, methanol, hydrogen और अन्य chemicals बनाने में use किया जाता है। यह coal को directly जलाने से बेहतर है क्योंकि emissions कम होती हैं।
Ammonium nitrate का use primarily fertilizers में होता है। India अभी बहुत सारा ammonium nitrate import करता है। इस plant से India self-sufficient होगा — जिससे import bill घटेगा और farmers को cheaper fertilizers मिलेंगे।
Economic impact की बात करें तो इस project से directly और indirectly हज़ारों jobs create होंगी। Odisha पहले से ही mining और steel industry का hub है — coal gasification इस ecosystem में एक नया dimension add करेगा।
India की coal gasification policy के तहत 2030 तक 100 MT (million tonnes) coal gasify करने का target है। Lakhanpur का यह plant उस larger vision का पहला concrete step है।
Environment की दृष्टि से भी यह step important है — cleaner coal use और reduced import dependency दोनों India के sustainability goals के साथ align करते हैं। यह है New India का industrial vision! 🏭
