Oman coast के पास US attacks में तीन Indian seafarers — Aditya Sharma, Shivanand Chuarasiya और Patnala Suresh — की मौत के बाद India में political controversy शुरू हो गई है। Congress ने PM Modi पर हमला बोला है कि उन्होंने US President Donald Trump के साथ बैठक में यह मुद्दा “नहीं उठाया।”
Priyanka Gandhi ने demand की कि PM Modi Trump से इस मामले में सीधी बात करें और diplomatic action लें। Congress ने कहा कि “PR first, not nation” Modi सरकार का mantra बन गया है — यानी image management ज़्यादा important है, Indian citizens की जान कम।
हालांकि, बाद में clarification आया। PM Modi ने G7 summit के sidelines पर Trump से seafarers की safety का मुद्दा उठाया। इसके अलावा, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar ने US Secretary of State Marco Rubio को call कर strong protest दर्ज कराया।
Shashi Tharoor ने — जो Congress के ही senior नेता हैं — PM Modi का बचाव किया और कहा कि उन्होंने G7 में यह मुद्दा उठाया था। यह controversy Congress के भीतर भी एक divided opinion दिखाती है।
तीनों seafarers जिन ships पर काम कर रहे थे, वो Oman coast के पास US military strike की चपेट में आईं। India में लाखों seafarers globally काम करते हैं — उनकी safety एक serious diplomatic concern है।
यह incident India-US relations में एक sensitive point बन गई है। Government पर दबाव है कि वो Indian citizens की safety के लिए strong और visible diplomatic action ले।
