Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal ने अपनी Finland यात्रा की शुरुआत की, जिसके दौरान India और Finland के बीच Industry Collaboration को मजबूत करने के लिए दो अहम Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) साइन किए गए। पहला MoU Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) और Business Finland के बीच, जबकि दूसरा CII और Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) के बीच हुआ।
अपने दौरे के दौरान Goyal ने Finland की Deputy Prime Minister और Finance Minister Riikka Purra के साथ-साथ Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto से भी अलग-अलग मुलाकातें कीं। दोनों पक्षों ने bilateral economic ties मजबूत करने और prospective India-EU Free Trade Agreement के जरिए trade और investment को और बढ़ावा देने पर चर्चा की।
दोनों देशों ने 2030 तक अपने bilateral trade को double करने का लक्ष्य रखा है, जिसके लिए digitalisation और sustainability पर आधारित strategic partnership को आगे बढ़ाया जाएगा। बातचीत में AI, 6G, Quantum Technologies, Semiconductors, Space और Sustainability जैसे उभरते क्षेत्रों में सहयोग को लेकर भी विस्तार से चर्चा हुई।
गौरतलब है कि यह दौरा Finland के President Alexander Stubb की March में हुई भारत यात्रा के कुछ महीनों बाद हो रहा है, जब दोनों देशों ने अपने संबंधों को Strategic Partnership in Digitalisation and Sustainability के स्तर तक बढ़ाया था। यह यात्रा January में संपन्न हुए India-European Union Free Trade Agreement के बाद भी हो रही है, जिससे दोनों देशों के बीच आर्थिक सहयोग को नई गति मिलने की उम्मीद है।
