India ने June 2026 में Russia से crude oil imports का एक नया record तोड़ दिया है। Commodity analytics firm Kpler के data के अनुसार India अब तक June में 2.6 million barrels per day (bpd) Russian crude oil import कर चुका है — जो किसी भी महीने का अब तक का highest figure है।
Russia अब India का सबसे बड़ा crude oil supplier बन चुका है, जो total imports का 53.5% है। यह तब हुआ जब Middle East में tensions की वजह से India के traditional suppliers — खासकर Iraq — से supply लगभग बंद हो गई। Iraq normally India का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा supplier था, लेकिन पिछले चार महीनों में उसने virtually कुछ भी supply नहीं किया।
Russia का Discount Factor: Russia अपने crude oil को international market rates से काफी कम कीमत पर India को दे रहा है। Western sanctions की वजह से Russia के पास limited buyers हैं, और India ने इस opportunity का पूरा फायदा उठाया है। इससे India के oil import bill में काफी savings हुई है। पिछले record 2.2 million bpd था जो May 2023 में बना था — जो अब June 2026 में break हो गया।
India दुनिया का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा crude oil importer है। Energy security के नजरिए से India ने हमेशा diversification की policy follow की है। लेकिन मौजूदा geopolitical situation में Russia एक reliable और सस्ता option साबित हो रहा है। India के refineries — खासकर Reliance और Indian Oil Corporation — ने अपनी refining capacity को Russian crude के हिसाब से adjust कर लिया है।
Full month के June imports 2.35 million bpd पर settle होने का अनुमान है जो अभी भी record होगा। Analysts का मानना है कि जब तक Middle East situation normalize नहीं होती, India का Russian crude dependency बना रहेगा।
इस trend का एक broader message भी है: India की foreign policy में “strategic autonomy” सिर्फ political नहीं बल्कि economic level पर भी operate करती है। चाहे West की आपत्तियां हों, India अपने national interest को सबसे ऊपर रखता है — और अभी national interest Russian discounted oil में है।
